Nebraska Respite Southwest Service Area

Provider Information

Being a Respite provider is a great community service you’ll provide to Nebraskans of all ages, which have medical difficulties, experience disabilities, mental illness, behavioral issues, or the frail elderly. You’ll be helping individuals to live independently in a home or community setting. You’ll be helping children/spouses continue to care for their loved ones. You’ll enable families to keep their loved one with disabilities in the home environment rather than in an institution.

As an Independent Approved Respite Services Provider you will choose what populations (disabilities or medical conditions) of clients you wish to serve, set your own hours, and pay schedule or you may volunteer your services.

Do you want to be an Approved Respite Service Provider?

Approved Respite Service Providers play a vital role in their community. They enable aged or disabled Nebraskans and their families to have choices in how and where to live.

Service providers help…

  • Individuals to live independently in a home or community setting
  • Spouses to care for their loved ones at home
  • Families to raise their children with disabilities at home

Programs pay a variety of both individuals and agencies to provide services.  At the same time, service providers earn a reasonable rate for their services.

Individual Approved Respite Service Providers are not employees of Nebraska Respite Network or the State of Nebraska. Rather, they are independent contractors who work for the individual with disabilities.

To be approved, individual providers must meet standards and pass background checks, including:

  • Criminal history
  • Adult Protective Services registry
  • Child central registry
  • Sex offender registry
  • Nurse aide registry

Agencies must assure their employees meet standards.
